Mississippi Voter Information
Voter Registration:
Every U.S. citizen who possesses the following qualifications is entitled
to register to vote in Mississippi:
- U.S. Citizen
- Resident of Mississippi at least thirty (30) days immediately before
the election
- At least eighteen (18) years of age by election day
- Not a convicted felon currently incarcerated for certain
crimes
When to register:
One must register at least 30 days prior to the election
in which one wants to vote. Change of address within county must be
made at least 30 days prior to election as well.
Circuit Clerks and Municipal Clerks are required to register voters
at any time during usual business hours of 8a.m. until 5 p.m.
Where to register:
One may register to vote either by visiting the local county Circuit
Clerk (usually in county courthouse) or Muncipal Clerk (usually
in City Hall), by mail, or by visiting www.sos.state.ms.us
on the Internet.
Where to vote:
After registering, one will be provided with the location of that precinct's
polling place.
